Quick answer: pair the printer from inside the NIIMBOT app, not from your phone's Bluetooth settings screen. This is the single most common mistake, especially on iPhone: the printer often will not appear in iOS Settings → Bluetooth at all, because it is designed to be discovered by the app. Open the app, tap to add a printer, and let the app do the scanning.
Step-by-step setup
- Charge the printer. A low battery is a surprisingly common cause of a printer that scans but never connects.
- Install the official NIIMBOT app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Allow Bluetooth permission when the app asks. On iOS, an app cannot scan for nearby devices without this — if you tapped “Don't Allow”, the printer will never appear. Fix it in Settings → NIIMBOT → Bluetooth.
- Keep the printer within about 3 metres of the phone, with nothing solid in between, while pairing.
- Turn on the printer; long-press the switch button to turn it on.
- In the app, tap to 'Connect' then tap 'Add New Device' and pick your model from the list it finds.
- Print a test label to confirm. Your first roll is in the box; after that, browse label refills.

Why the printer doesn't show up in iPhone Bluetooth settings
This confuses almost every new user, so to be clear: it is normal. NIIMBOT printers communicate over Bluetooth Low Energy, and the pairing handshake happens inside the app rather than at the operating-system level. An empty result in iOS Settings → Bluetooth does not mean your printer is faulty. Go back to the app and scan from there.
If it still won't connect
Work down this list in order — most cases are solved by the first three:
- Close and reopen the app, then scan again.
- Restart the printer (switch it fully off, then on) and restart your phone.
- Update the app to the latest version in the App Store or Play Store.
- Clear a stale pairing. If the printer was ever paired to another phone, or shows as connected but won't print, open your phone's Bluetooth settings, tap “Forget this device” for the printer, then re-pair from inside the app.
- Disconnect it from other devices. The printer talks to one phone at a time — if a family member's phone is still connected, yours cannot take over.
- Check the roll is loaded correctly. A printer that connects but feeds blank labels is usually a paper problem, not a Bluetooth one: genuine NIIMBOT rolls are auto-recognised, and the app fills in the label size for you. Our guide to blank labels works through that in order.
Printing from a computer instead
